P. Lea Martinez Endowed Scholarship Fund 

Scholarships are awarded annually. Deadline for applications is the last Wednesday in February of every year.

The Julian Samora Research Institute (JSRI) is proud to provide an opportunity for current graduate students to apply for the P. Lea Martinez Scholarship Fund. The scholarship, named in honor of P. Lea Martinez, supports one graduate student conducting research on health issues among Latinos. Applications will be reviewed and recommended by the JSRI Scholarship Committee. Recipient will be announced in March.

Requirements

Applicants must be current MSU graduate students and must be attending MSU in the fall and following spring semesters. They must demonstrate excellent academic standing and provide evidence of interest in research on health issues among Latinos. A $1,000 credit will appear both fall and spring semesters (for a total of $2,000 for the academic year).

Please note: Students of all identities are welcome to apply, and selection will not be based in any way on the student’s protected identity.

Instructions

Applicants must submit the following materials in the scholarship application form by the last Wednesday in February by 5:00 p.m..
1. Cover letter with personal statement describing accomplishments, research/educational interests, and student goals.
2. Latest official transcript from MSU.
3. Resume which includes current local address and phone number.
4. One letter of recommendation from a professor or advisor.

The awards committee will nominate one graduate student for the award.

Deadline

Submissions must be received at JSRI by 5:00 p.m. on the last Wednesday in February.
