Yoshira D. Macías Mejía is a postdoctoral scholar with the Julian Samora Research Institute at Michigan State University. Dr. Macias Mejia received her Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of New Mexico (UNM) in 2019. She was also awarded the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) Doctoral Fellowship in Health Policy at UNM. During time as RWJF doctoral fellow she developed several research and policy reports. She has experience in community engaged research as a recipient of the RWJF pilot grant at UNM. Moreover, her research areas, broadly speaking, are in American politics and public policy. Specifically, she examines the patterns of political behavior of racial and ethnic groups, with a strong focus on Latinos. Her research also focuses on immigration and health policy among Latinos.
