Cristián Doña-Reveco is director of the Julian Samora Research Institute (JSRI) and an associate professor in the Department of Sociology at Michigan State University. His research examines international migration in the Americas and Latino communities in the U.S. Midwest, with particular attention to public representations and attitudes toward immigrants, South American and Chilean migration policy, and the effects of crises on Latino and Latin American immigrant communities. He employs oral histories and life stories, qualitative media analysis, policy and archival research, and quantitative methods. His work has appeared in journals including International Migration, Journal of Immigrant & Refugee Studies, the Bulletin of Latin American Research, and Latin American Perspectives, as well as in edited volumes and technical reports. He teaches courses on international migration and Latin American sociology. He holds a Ph.D. in sociology and history (Michigan State University, 2012), a master’s degree in sociology (Michigan State University, 2007), a master’s degree in political science with a concentration in international relations (Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, 2007), and an undergraduate degree in sociology from the Universidad de Chile (2002).
