The cross motif of a concha
shell that appears in the center of the Institute's logo evokes
an ancient Meso-american symbol that relates to the human dependancy
on water. As an Aztec water symbol, the logo also symbolizes
tranquility, harmony, and nourishment.
The spiral chamber of the
concha shell resembles water rising from a subterranean stepped
well to an earth mound in front of a sunburst.
The Julian Samora Research
Institute's name frames this distinctive Aztec motif and gives
the Institute its logo and identification. |
