To address scholars’ and students’ learning needs - and to increase the number of research studies and statistical information on the rapidly-growing Latino population in the nation’s Midwest - we ask that you enthusiastically support the Julian Samora Research Institute.
A contribution to its Endowed Scholarship Funds provides financial support to MSU students interested in working with Latino communities. The Julian Samora Endowed Scholarship Fund was initially funded with a contribution from Dr. Julian Samora, and the funds have supported many students over the years. At present, the Fund allows for two $2000 scholarships to be given annually - one to an undergraduate student and another to a graduate student. Additional funding would permit increased scholarships and financial support to students while simultaneously honoring one of the nation’s most reputable Latino scholars...Dr. Julian Samora.
We welcome gifts of all sizes and - unless anonymity is requested - MSU and JSRI will acknowledge your gifts accordingly. Contribution options include gifts of cash, securities, stocks or bonds, tangible personal property, and gifts through planned and deferred gift bequests. All of your gifts are considered charitable deductions. Through specialists at University Development, we can help define and initiate your charitable intentions in the most efficient manner for you, your heirs, and JSRI.
You can donate directly to the JSRI Enrichment Fund, the Julian Samora Endowed Scholarship Fund, the P. Lea Martinez Endowed Scholarship Fund or the JSRI Scholarship Fund by using University Development’s safe and secure online gift processing system. The credit card-based system eliminates postage, reduces paperwork, saves time, and - as a safety precaution for our donors - authorizes your transactions in real-time. For your security, no credit card information is retained on site.
Contributions can also be made using the more traditional approach...by mailing your gifts to the address provided and indicating which of the four funds you are supporting. As you consider your charitable gift-giving options or consider the most advantageous means of distributing your estate, we ask that you reflect on the research needs of Latino communities and the educational aspirations and needs of students. You can support by providing the means to continue the work of the Julian Samora Research Institute. Your contributions are greatly appreciated.
